The following errors have been corrected in this hot fix:

After posting an amount for liquid funds through liquidity journal the program is showing incorrect amount in the Liquid funds field when Liq. Availability by periods window is opened from the Liquidity card

While making an offline application of the invoices and credit memo with payment the program throws an inconsistency error.

The amounts displayed in the Base goods and GST goods is incorrect in the VAT report - vendor.

A Purchase order is posted with no VAT but with WHT and payment is made partially. When final payment is made there is inconsistency error.

When a customer refund transaction is posted through payment journal with Bank payment type is Manual cheque the program will throw an error message as 'Vendor No. AAA' does not exist.

When the entries are transferred from post dated cheques window to payment journal then the program is throwing an inconsistency error and G/L entries are also incorrect

In case dimensions are attached and 3 different GL accounts are mentioned for allocation the program throws an error 'the document no. is out of balance due to some rounding difference'.

When Prices Including VAT is check marked on the vendor card the program is not calculating the VAT amount while creating the purchase order and G/L entries are also incorrect when prepayment invoice is posted

In form 415'Include Simulation' field is overlapped and report 25 'Include Simulation' field is also overlapped.

While using the copy document functionality on the sales order, replace posting date, posting date and document date is missing

The Simulation form is missing in the menu suite

If payment discount is mentioned on the vendor card, then while making payment to the vendor the payment discount is to be considered in WHT also. To achieve this two new fields have been added in WHT entry table.

Versions have been corrected.

The following errors have been corrected:

In Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 integration between purchase documents and jobs is limited to the purchase invoice. A planning line is created when the purchase invoice is created. The usage of purchase orders as a part of this process was omitted. This hotfix provides the integration to the purchase order with the jobs module.

Currently two job ledger entries are generated when posting a Purchase Order as Receipt and Invoice separately.

The Total Cost (LCY) field in the Job Ledger comes to Zero after the Update Job Item Cost batch job is run where Purchase Orders have been posted as Receipt and Invoice separately.

When posting a Purchase Order partially after receiving, Item Ledger entries are not updating the Invoiced Quantity field. However when looking up the Unit Cost field (In the Average Cost Calc. Overview) the Cost Amount (Actual) is displayed as 0 for all entries.

Installation

Select the six objects (or export the language(s) for each object separately).
Click Tools -> Language Module -> Export.
Enter a file name.
Choose a language (Both packs contains ENU, so it is not necessary to export ENU).
Click Ok.

3. Import the planning rollup update – either the standard one or the one modified for Kitting functionality:

If your customer uses functionality that was added in the localization process or by you to the involved objects, you must add this functionality now.
Compile the imported objects.

4. Import language (if you use more than one language, you must repeat the following steps for each one):

Select the six objects (or import the language(s) for each object separately).
Click Tools -> Language Module -> Import.
Choose the language file you created in step 3.
Click Yes to confirm.

5. Translate the following text manually (in quotation marks):

Installing the Update

Installing the Client

If NAV is not installed, run Setup.exe located in the CsideClient directory
If NAV 5.0 or 5.0 SP1 is installed, run Setup.exe located in the CsideClient directory Update. After the setup, start the client and connect to the database for the update (conversion).
If a pre–NAV 5.0 version of the client is installed, uninstall it and then install this version.
For Norwegian version, if there are multiple identical instances of "Norsk (Bokmål)" when the client prompts to choose an application language, the first instance must be chosen in order to see the user interface with the correct language strings.

Installing Other Components (Outlook Integration and Employee Portal are updated)

For these components, uninstall any previous versions and then run the appropriate Setup program in the appropriate subdirectory. Also see Outlook Integration Installation and Setup Technical White Paper for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 on PartnerSource.

User Access Control (UAC) Installation Issues (Windows Vista/Server 2008/7 with UAC enabled)

If you install the demo version on a computer that does not already have SQL Server installed, Setup installs SQL Server Express automatically. You must then add yourself as an administrator in SQL Server after Setup completes. If you fail to do so, you do not have access to create the $ndo$srvproperty table on the master database. This issue can also occur if you already have the MSSQLSERVER service installed, if you are not already an administrator of the instance.
If you install the demo version, the xp_ndo.dll stored procedures are not installed correctly. To install these procedures follow the steps described in this blog post: http://blogs.msdn.com/nav/archive/2009/05/25/installing-stored-procedures-for-dynamics-nav-2009-manually.aspx.
Setup is not able to install the demo database. To install demo database manually:
1. Copy the database file (CsideClient\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics NAV\CSIDE Client\Demo Database NAV (5-0)_Data.mdf) to the Data directory of the local SQL Server installation (i.e. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data.
2. Follow the procedure for “Opening Databases” on pages 52-54 of the manual “Installation & System Management: Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV Classic with Microsoft SQL Server™” (w1w1isql.pdf). If you cannot locate your copy of this manual, it is available from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 Developer and Installation Guides page in the Microsoft Download Center. It is also possible to attach a database using SQL Server Management Studio. Support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
New style Sheets for exporting to MS Office (NavisionFormToWord.xslt and NavisionFormToExcel.xslt). These style sheets were updated to support export of Picture Boxes to MS Word and Excel. If you never export forms that contain PictureBoxes, you can choose not to use the updated style sheets. For custom style sheets, the changes can be merged manually. To import the style sheet to existing databases (both demo and customer databases), follow these steps:
1. Open the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 50SP1 Update 2 client.
2. On the Tools menu, click Manage Stylesheets to open the Manage Style Sheets form.
3. Choose Style sheets for this form only.
4. Use the Function button to import the updated style sheet.

Known Issues

Incorrect documentation description for functions TABLENAME and FIELDNAME.

The C/AL Programming Guide contains an error regarding the use of FIELDNAME and TABLENAME. On page 27, in the section on User Messages, the text states that "C/AL functions FIELDNAME and TABLENAME should be used in user messages." The text should identify FIELDCAPTION and TABLECAPTION instead of FIELDNAME and TABLENAME.
Database server MMC cannot create snap-in

Workaround: Manage the Database Server from the DOS prompt (see w1w1ism.pdf for reference, section 2.3).

Issues Resolved

Multiple issues detected by Windows Error Reporting, which could cause Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 components to stop responding, were resolved.

Multiple issues that were determined to be decreasing the amount of memory available to the computer running Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 over time were resolved.

Issue: TRANSFERFIELDS function would transfer too many characters.
Resolution: For file copying, the actual field's size is now used, and not the aligned size.

Comcom implementation was not working correctly.

SKIP function was not working when importing through an XMLport.

Issue: Restoring a Microsoft Dynamics NAV database containing several companies on SQL Server 2005 would return a system memory error.
Resolution: The loop for creating table data entries for each company will now look at a snapshot that is taken at the beginning of the restore, which contains all existing companies. Because companies from the restore are inserted directly into the company table, there must be a separate company list to represent the original companies. Based on this snapshot, no tables will be created for existing companies in the backup section.

Filter function created in earlier version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV would not work in version 5.0

Problems with DBCS characters, especially in double-byte languages.

Maximum number of allowed client users could be exceeded on client.

Potential instability when designing Automation with events.

It was impossible to create more than one clustered index on table.

Error 2 in module 5.

Problem with using the Printer Selection feature in Microsoft Dynamics NAV when running with Terminal Services on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2003. With more than one client user, Microsoft Dynamics NAV was unable to identify which printer belonged to which user.

Issue: Export of images to Base64 for export to Microsoft Office was not working.
Resolution: The export of images is now supported using Base64.

Issue: Restoring a backup did not restore Windows logins.
Resolution: Windows logins are now restored from a backup.

Saving a report as HTML would lead to a corrupt .zup file. Problem would occur if user attempted to resave a report while the original version was still in use.

ASSERT messages were being inappropriately displayed. These messages were a testing artifact that should have been removed.

Incorrect calculation of UTC would lead to incorrect start date/time in routing lines.

C/AL code behaved differently depending on whether it was executed by fin.exe or finsql.exe.

Planning Worksheet could not be exported to Excel.

Issue: Database upgrade would incorrectly complete even when errors occurred. More specifically, security synchronization would not be completed, but the database would still be upgraded, though it would not be 100% functional until the security failure had been corrected and a security synchronization was performed.
Resolution: The transaction was changed so that the update is not submitted until the security synch is completed.

Use of pipe OR operator in security filters displayed strange behavior when browsing through a list form.

Errors in the Outlook Integration installers.

* By default, customer licenses have a maximum database size of 64 GB. However, the maximum database size can be increased to 256 GB for versions 2.50 to 2009 by adding granule 1370 - Database Expansions per 1 GB to the license.

* The version of the NAV executables determines the maximum database size.

* The maximum size of an individual database file is 130,922,000 bytes. If you try to expand a database file beyond this size, you receive the following error message:

The maximum permitted value is 130922000

Therefore, any database larger than this must be expanded by using multiple database files.

* IMPORTANT: Large databases should not be used on systems that do not support HotCopy. HotCopy is available in NAV 3.01 and later versions of NAV

…why upgrading a Microsoft Dynamics NAV database may take a long time and why you may experience out of memory errors during the upgrade process…

When you upgrade a Microsoft Dynamics NAV database you may experience one of the following problems:

You receive an out of memory error
The database upgrade takes a long time
The database upgrade log file runs out of disk space

A NAV database upgrade is initiated when the version of the NAV C/SIDE client connecting to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database is newer than the current version of the database.

A database upgrade performs a number of tasks that prepare the database and system for new features available in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV system. For example, the database upgrade may create or modify system tables, or introduce or modify properties.

The database upgrade is designed to be a fast process that ensures consistency between database and client versions. During the upgrade of NAV 4.00 SP3 to 5.0 or NAV 5.00 to 5.0 SP1 (or later) a larger than usual change in the database structure was required. This was to accommodate changes in the Sum Index Field Technology (SIFT) functionality. These changes cause the upgrade steps to take longer to perform and will generate a larger SQL log file than usual. As a result, it is possible to exhaust system resources like disk space or memory, leading to a failed upgrade, which will rollback any changes. If you encounter these issues, you will have to re-run the upgrade process using a system with more resources, depending on the error reported.

The NAV database upgrade steps for the SIFT modification will not be modified, but it is noted that the performance impact of the upgrade was more severe than initially estimated. In the future, such large changes will not be implemented in the NAV product. Large changes will be provided as a separate tool, that may be run independently of the database upgrade, so they can be scheduled for a more suitable time – for example planned server downtime.

NOTES:
* A double-byte character set is a character set that uses 2-byte (16-bit) characters instead of 1-byte (8-bit) characters.
* Some languages use characters that cannot be represented by using single-byte codes.
* Both ASCII and EBCDIC are single-byte codes.
* Languages that use double-byte character sets include Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
* By default, double-byte character sets are disabled in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

How to enable double-byte character sets

(1) For NAV 2009 SP1, uncheck the Validate Collation property (File, Database, Alter, Collation tab)

(2) For NAV 3.10 to NAV 2009, double-byte character sets are enabled in the fin.stx file.

To enable double-byte character sets in these versions, you must replace the fin.stx files in the NAV client installation folder with a DBCS enabled fin.stx file. Extract the fin.stx file from the DBCS_enabled_stx_files.zip file, and then replace the fin.stx files in the following locations:
--- Microsoft Dynamics NAV client folder
--- ENU subfolder

Change the input language

After you enable double-byte character sets, you must change the input language to correctly display a double-byte character set. To do this:

(1) In Control Panel, double-click Regional and Language Options.

(2) Click the Languages tab, click to select the Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai) check box, and then click to select the Install files for East Asian languages check box. Note: The Microsoft Windows CD to install the language files.

(3) After you install the language files, click Details on the Languages tab to open the Text Services and Input Languages dialog box.

(4) Under Installed services, click Add, click the language that you want in the Input language list, click to select the Keyboard layout/IME check box, click the language that you want, and then click OK.

(5) When you see the language in the list under Installed services, click OK.

(6) In the Regional and Language Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.

(7) Under Language for non-Unicode programs, click the language that you want.

(8) To apply the changes, click OK. The operating system automatically restarts.

(9) When you want to type double-byte characters in Microsoft Dynamics NAV or in other applications, you may have to open the Language bar. On the Language bar, click the language that you want. Note: The Language bar is automatically installed.

Warning

Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a non-unicode-compliant program (NAV does not support DBCS natively).

When you enable DBCS within Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you may experience the following behavior.

Storage
DBCS characters cannot be stored in CODE fields. By default, characters in fields that have the Microsoft Dynamics NAV data type of CODE are stored in uppercase format. When this behavior is applied to DBCS characters, different characters can be stored in SQL Server because DBCS characters do not have uppercase equivalents.
Sorting
The sorting behavior for DBCS characters differs from the sorting behavior for ASCII characters. Because the SQL database operates as a back-end database, it must be stored on a non-DBCS codepage. Therefore, sorting on fields that contain DBCS data can be unreliable. Instead, we recommend that you sort on numeric fields or on ASCII-based fields.
Third-party retrieval
DBCS characters are stored by using their ASCII counterparts in the back-end SQL database. The Microsoft Dynamics NAV client translates the ASCII-based data back to the original DBCS characters. Third-party programs do not make data corrections when they retrieve the ASCII characters. Therefore, the characters can be interpreted as invalid.
Report fonts
Changing the FontName property of a field in a report has no effect in a DBCS environment. The font always reverts to the default setting of Helvetica.

Error messages if NAV is not DBCS enabled

* NAV 2009 SP1

There is no system code page on your computer that matches the 1252 code page of the Latin1_General_CS_AS collation for the Demo Database NAV (6-0) database. Your system code pages are: ANSI: XXX, OEM: XXX.
Ensure that the Regional Options of the computer use the correct system language and locale for the code pages to match. You can also disable the 'Validate Collation' setting for this database. It is possible that certain text data will not be converted correctly when stored in the database.
Click OK to disable the 'Validate Collation' setting and continue to use the database, or click Cancel to exit.

* NAV 3.10 - 2009

The double-byte character set, code page XXX, on the computer is not supported by this version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Notes:

Starting with 4.0 SP3 (Build 24080), the trace flag 4616 had to be turned on for NAV with SQL Server 2005 (and eventually for SQL 2008).
Reason for trace flag 4616:

SQL Server 2005 introduced increased security protection for database metadata, which meant that visibility was restricted by default for users in such a way that they could no longer see connection details for other logins unless they were granted “VIEW SERVER STATE” permissions. However, NAV licensing functionality and the client feature for displaying database sessions both require that users must have visibility to all active connection details. SQL Server trace flag 4616 causes SQL Server 2005 and 2008 to behave in the same way as SQL Server 2000 with respect to metadata visibility. Therefore, when support for SQL Server 2005 was added for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, the requirement to turn on trace flag 4616 was also introduced.

Reason why trace flag 4616 is no longer needed:

NAV 2009 SP1 now uses “VIEW SERVER STATE” permissions to enable visibility to the required connection information for each user.

For customers who have been using SQL Server trace flag 4616 for older versions of NAV, Microsoft recommends disabling this trace flag after upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1, if there are no other applications which require this trace flag. Most environments will have trace flag 4616 added to the startup parameters for the SQL Server Service.

This Outlook Integration update rollup corrects the issues that are described in KB945879. This update applies to Microsoft Dynamics NAV for all countries and all language locales.

Note:

Due to an issue with the installer, it was required that Outlook was present on the PC where NAS was running. This issue is now fixed and the download below was updated 13 Feb 2008.
